Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
In the 200th year of the publication of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein four post-primary schools in Belfast, and students at Fighting Words centres in Dublin, Cork and Wicklow, will take part in workshops that will draw on the original Frankenstein to inspire their writing.

Friends and Monsters is a cross-community, cross-border creative writing programme for post-primary students aged 12-14 developed by Fighting Words Belfast.
Trained volunteer mentors will support young people in a programme of Shared Reading and creative writing engagements to explore the legacy of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in the 200th year of its publication.

The project began on 21 September and will round off with a writing slam/celebration event at Halloween. Young people are encouraged to upload and share their work online. A selection of work will be published after the celebration event.

This programme is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Dublin.

We'll keep you updated on the progress of the programme.
