At many Fighting Words workshops, one of the volunteer mentors acts as illustrator, bringing the young writers' wild ideas to life visually. If that sounds like a fun challenge, we want to invite you to a workshop for volunteer tutors (new & existing) who haven't illustrated before - especially if you think you can't! You are not required to have any formal art skills or training. Just a general enthusiasm for doodles and colours.
The workshop held by Rosa Devine includes some drawing exercises and general illustration advice. We will also go over some tips and tricks for dealing with tricky characters ("An 8-legged unicorn whose greatest wish is to be a figure skater!").
Come for drawing, tea/coffee and a good laugh.
Suitable for 18 years +
If you would like to take part, please email Marnie firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the morning (10am-11.30am) there will be a gallery exhibition launch celebrating the pilot of Fighting Words in Coleraine. Come along to see a showcase of work including creative writing, visual art and illustration produced by local children and young people culminating in the official launch of a public art sculpture being erected in Coleraine marking 50 years of innovation and excellence at the Ulster University. The event will also include a talk from leading author Glenn Patterson. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP essential by 20th May to: email@example.com
