As you may know, Fighting Words began as a Young at Art project back in 2015; since then the team has worked closely with Young at Art, delivering over 9,000 creative writing opportunities for schools and young writers aged 6-18. That’s a lot of storymaking opportunities for young people!

On 1st April 2020, Fighting Words became a fully independent organisation, meaning they now have the chance to grow and thrive.

Young at Art has been delighted to support Fighting Words Belfast since the start and through this transition. If you’ve enjoyed hearing about their work through the Young at Art newsletter, do stay in touch with Fighting Words: Sign up for their newsletter and follow their Facebook page.

Like many of us, the Fighting Words team is working from home, but they are delivering some amazing digital projects for writers of all ages, including moving their Write Club online. Also look out for a name change: They’ll be called ‘Fighting Words NI’, which more accurately reflects the fact that their work with schools and volunteers is Northern Ireland-wide!

It’s the end of one era and the beginning of an amazing new one, with future possibilities for both organisations to work together.

All the best from the teams at Young at Art and Fighting Words NI
