In partnership with Stranmillas University College, Belfast, Young at Art is hosting 'All About Play', a creative drama workshop for nursery and primary teachers on 7th June.

‘All About Play’ is a personal and professional development course, which seeks to empower participants through creative experiences. In a relaxed fun environment, our professional facilitators will focus on building participants existing skills base to incorporate creative approaches to the use of Drama in the classroom. Emphasis will be placed on linking the Pre-school and Primary curriculums to Drama.

‘All About Play’ is an opportunity for teachers to take a day out from their busy schedules to relax and focus on their own creativity, to network with their peers from other schools and to gain support and knowledge from professional facilitators. Opportunities such as these have previously demonstrated to help lower stress levels and enhance the participants overall sense of wellbeing.

This training seeks to increase confidence to deliver imaginative learning experiences in the classroom with the aim of enhancing student engagement, assisting with classroom management and providing teachers with additional skills and resources which can be adapted for other youth environments.

‘All About Play’ has been developed with the busy teaching week in mind and its delivery has been designed to nurture teacher’s personal creativity.

Participants will receive:

  • One free place per school on the training programme to the value of £150 – additional places can be requested through Young at Art subject to availability
  • Lunch provided on the day with refreshments available throughout
  • A free copy of our newly revised teaching resource booklet and DVD, ‘All About Plays’ for Primary and ‘All About Playing’ for Pre-school
  • An assembled prop box for use back in classroom
  • A certificate of attendance

The course will take place on Saturday 7th June (10am - 3pm) at Stranmillas University College. For further information on the training and to book a space email (Emma Berkery - Education Officer) or call Young at Art on 028 990 23 0660.
