Children's Books Ireland Shadowing
The CBI Shadowing Scheme is a unique programme for schools and libraries, designed to encourage reading for pleasure and enjoyment of and appreciation for a wide variety of books.

Participating classes and book clubs make their own selection of suitable titles from the books shortlisted for the Children’s Books Ireland Book of the Year, which is announced in March, using a specially devised activity pack to guide them in their reading. At the end of this process each group is asked to collectively vote for their favourite book. CBI then announces the Children’s Choice Award at the official prize-giving ceremony in May.

In 2018 the Shadowing Scheme sign-up is limited to those groups that are registered members of Children's Books Ireland only. This includes group leaders who are in possession of individual or professional membership. Any and all book clubs at schools, libraries or bookshops across the island of Ireland are welcome to sign up to CBI Book of the Year Awards Shadowing, once they are members of CBI.

If you are not yet a member of CBI all the information is available on their website, where you can also sign-up to join. CBI is a non-profit organisation that offers further resources for book clubs, classroom or library via annual membership. Membership starts at €40 per annum and includes a copy of CBI publications, including; Inis magazine, the Inis Reading Guide, the BOLD GIRLS Reading Guide and reduced rate entry to the annual CBI Conference.
