CALL FOR PAPERS: as part of Making Space Symposium on Children's Theatre

Making Space 2010

The Making Space Forum offers six options, comprising seminars, performances and discussions. The two-day Symposium on children's theatre is one of these options and, for the first time, includes presentations and academic papers, for which submissions are now being considered. This year focuses on the relationship between audiences and performance, addressing key issues such as:

  • How are audiences involved in the creation of new work?
  • What are the expectations and limits in making work for children and young people?
  • What ethical frameworks govern the creation of work for these audiences?
  • How does interaction with the audience constitute an aesthetic practice?
  • What, if any, distinctive aesthetic expectations are in play in working with young audiences?

Abstracts (300-500 words) for papers and presentations should be sent by email to: Dr Tom Maguire, School of Creative Arts, University of Ulster by Monday 29th March 2010.
